Preparing for Your Trip to Colombia

How to prepare for facelift surgery in Medellín: entry requirements, pre-op instructions, money and what Dr. Franco's team handles for you.

Before you book

Start with the dates, not the surgery. Your coordinator will schedule the consultation, the procedure, and the follow-up visits around one stay, and everything else fits into that window. Book your flights once those dates are set, and plan for ten to fourteen days on the ground.

Passport and entry

Your passport should be valid for at least six months past your travel dates. US citizens do not need a visa for a tourist stay of up to 90 days in Colombia. You will receive an entry stamp when you land, and you should keep it with your passport while you are here.

Health and medications

Stop smoking as early as you can, and tell your team everything you take. Aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood thinners and anti-inflammatories usually need to pause before surgery, and Dr. Franco's team will give you exact dates. Do not stop a prescribed medication on your own. If you have high blood pressure, keep it controlled, because a stable blood pressure is central to the safety protocol.

Money and payments

Colombia uses the Colombian peso, but credit cards are widely accepted in Medellín, and your surgery payment can be made by card or wire transfer. Tell your bank you are traveling so your cards are not blocked. Keep a small amount of pesos for taxis, tips, and small shops.

What the team handles

Airport transfers, a recovery coordinator, pre-operative testing, and two weeks of follow-up support are all arranged by the clinic. Your job is to show up healthy, rested, and off the medications we asked you to pause.
